OH YEAH...

the world in a state of institutional collaspe and radical rearrangement, miracles happen and for that we should be grateful. after making the comment about the emails getting pushed only quarter hourly and not immediately on my blackberry on the base network, and complaining about 5 times, i happily yet cautiously experience that it seems to be kinda back to normal. THANK YOU. my case even seemed to be common knowledge as i rang up on friday. it wasnt really a prayer but kinda. and that on a sunday in a place where service aint written with a BIG s. insane. terrible to think that bitchin works. it could be a very good week.

amen

i lied and the internets proved me wrong. dont you just love the internets: http://supportforums.blackberry.com “BIS accounts on a routine POP email server will check every 15 minutes and push new email, and then check again in two minutes, and push new mail, and repeat that for a couple of two minute cycles until no new mail is found, and then revert back to the 15 min cycle, etc., rinse and repeat. BIS accounts on IMAP are instant push. Google and Yahool mail are instant. There are not options to change the cycle. It is determined by the type of email server you are using.”

you’ve lost that loving feeling…

spot the difference: my berlinale 2009 poster and possibly some copies and or not. with the intensity and complexity and urgency and fury of the internets, the truth will always come to light. if the bible didnt teach us not to lie, then the internets certainly will. but then again, the truth is a two sided sword.
two… sides… to… everything.

and to wind up the monday…

From Michel Wlassikoff, historian, writer of History of graphic design in France
and Alexandre Dumas de Rauly, graphic designer and researcher

Dear Paul Snowden,

We are preparing a book on the Futura typeface. Published by Norma (Paris),
it will come out in winter 2010/11.

It is a history of Futura, from its creation by Paul Renner and editing by the Bauer foundry,
up until today. This includes evolution in its design, its use as well as the reference it has
been for many typographers and graphic designers.

Keeping this in mind, we welcome materials, testimonies, thoughts and analysis of
contemporary creators throughout the world.
This is why we turn to you.

If you agree to contribute to our work, we will send you a detailed questionnaire
to understand the importance you attach to the Futura typeface and the use
you made of it in your creations.

We will also request your iconographical documents such as some works for
Bang Bang Berlin, for DJ Maxximus and the Bass the World Partys,
your Crystal exhibition (2006), for Boysnoise Records.

Thanking you in advance for your reply.

Sincerely.

Alexandre Dumas de Rauly

falls du eplus/base subscriber bist und du dich auch gefragt hast warum dein emails spät auf dein blackberry seit neulich landen, es liegt daran dann dass seit 2 wochen wegen netz überlastung, werden die jetzt nur jeder 1/4 stunde gepushed, hat die freundlichen kunden betreung mir erklärt. this is a little like really loving mcdonalds but finding out its really really really evil, its a little bit of a superüberdowner. anyways, loving my little 9700 present to myself. what a great phone, a couple of small problems but what a great phone, especially when you rip off the leather backing with the logo, making it thinner and all very stealth looking. anyways, outta of berlin support, im sticking with eplus. just screaming into on the internets. another blog entry fufilled. how to make a number one hit the easy way vs. how to make it in america

strangely enough current sources of inspiration are coming from rereading the classic KLF handbook and watching mark wahlbergs new show on hbo and wanting it to get better.

the thing at the top of the list of things we love is lists.

if there is one thing that everyone loves, it must be lists. they are like the programmes around new years where you get a great retrospect of whats gone all on year. kinda like big-time cheat notes for school. if you consider the b-word world a whole load of prefiltered cool things lists, you can certainly save time surfing the best of the best and go fishing for the rest of the day (for the boys) and go buy shoes (for the girls). so lists are good, b-words are good and learning is good too. the flipside of learning is teaching and thats what i try to do once a week at the btk here in berlin in my course ‘doing cool stuff with paul snowden’ which certainly sounds like alot of fun. i try to pass the knowledge onto the kids and some of them listen, and a couple of them amaze me in return. i like to bring a little of real life and real life problems to the kids and give them a chance to consider an exit strategy before becoming a designer. so todays cool things we did today at school was the show and tell of our visitor, pieter, who runs the great website today and tomorrow. he trawled through a whole load of links last night and showed us 99 of his best. and since its the internets, i can take his list, republish it, get mad props and because its the internets, not even have to ask him he said. all information compact and compressed is very inspiring, so here is is, the today and tomorrow, top 99.

once youve done that, order this great book show me how on amazon. it is really great.

and then on ebay, try to find these great books - the book of lists, which got me hooked on lists, way way back then.
